Was Jesus Jewish or a Christian?
As we gather in this season, Bibles are once again opened to re-read the wonderful account in Luke (Luke 1:33) where we find the age-old story of the Angel Gabriel visiting Mary (Miriam) to inform her that she will bear a son. The angel goes on to declare that her son will reign over the House of Jacob (Israel) forever.
Fast forward to our generation, and you will hear Christians standing up to give the argument that Jesus wasn't Jewish. How can this ignorance exist?
How can anyone overlook Luke 2:21 where we are told that Mary and Joseph circumcised Jesus and gave him his name on the eighth day, as is commanded in the Torah?
Or how can they ignore in Luke 2:22-24 where we are told that after the days of Mary's purification, according to the Torah, they were to present him in the Temple in Jerusalem to the LORD and they were to offer a sacrifice of two turtle doves?
Jesus lived His life as a Jew.
With the rise of global anti-Semitism around the world, it is critical that Christians understand their biblical responsibility to stand with our Jewish brethren and Israel against the rise of this age-old hatred; especially when it is being fueled by false teachers and prophets and propelled by ignorance of the very Bible Christians profess to read and know.
God placed our souls in our bodies at this time in history. We are our brother's keepers. We are reminded of Yehshua's words, "Whatever you do to the least of these, my brethren (Israel), that you do unto me."
We must not remain ignorant of these biblical truths. We must see the world from a biblical worldview, not what man thinks is politically expedient. The rise of anti-Semitism is happening because most Christians do not know their Bibles. That is why PJTN exists. We must be educated and ready to support our Jewish brethren.
The new year fast approaching looms as a challenging one for Israel and the Jewish people both in Israel and around the world as the rise of the “new anti-Semitism” is on the march once again worldwide as a dark and relentless foe. At PJTN, we are “igniting the torch”—letting the light of truth shine—and raising our voices loudly to say “not again—not on our watch will Israel’s enemies go unchallenged!”
As you thank God for the blessings of this season and look forward to the new year—please consider your best year-end gift to PJTN! It will be an investment that will bring God’s favor as He tells us in Genesis 12:3…”I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
Praying you will be part of the blessing!
