THE UN FOCUSES ON DEMONIZATION OF ISRAEL AS CHRISTIANITY SUFFERS GLOBAL HIGH OF VIOLENCE SAYS UN SPECIAL ENVOY

(NEW YORK, NY)–December 20, 2019–In the lead up to both Hanukkah and Christmas celebrations next week, for Jews and Christians alike worldwide, religious persecution is raging under the watchful eye of the UN.

Last week alone, eight separate anti-Israel resolutions were adopted by the UN General Assembly in a session ignoring heightening global crisis to focus exclusively on the Jewish State’s violations of humanitarian law.

Noted UN Special Envoy Laurie Cardoza-Moore in a statement released today: "As the Special Envoy to the United Nations for the World Council of Independent Christian Churches (WCICC) and President of Proclaiming Justice to The Nations, I am standing to call for the condemnation of the UN's Decolonization Committee's biased resolutions against Israel that were adopted last week, as well as its refusal to condemn the Christian persecution by Islamists that is sweeping Europe, Asia and Africa. The eradication of Christians and other minorities by violent means has been revealed to be a specific objective of groups in Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria and the Philippians in recent memory. The level and nature of these persecutions have arguably come close to meeting the international definition of genocide, according to the criteria of that definition adopted by the UN.  And yet silence has prevailed through all atrocities in favor of focus in demonizing the Jewish State.

Cardoza-Moore went on to cite a report commissioned by the British foreign secretary, Jeremy Hunt, that was featured in The Guardian earlier this year; https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/may/02/persecution-driving-christians-out-of-middle-east-report. The report found that the overwhelming majority (80%) of persecuted believers worldwide are Christian.

“Unfortunately, the UN has utterly failed in its responsibilities because they're too busy trying to portray Israel as 'an apartheid state,' completely ignoring the real persecutions happening while demonizing the Jewish State,” noted Ms. Cardoza-Moore.  A glaring example happened last month when the UN Assembly sat silently amidst the barrage of 400 rockets aimed at the destruction of innocent Jewish lives.

"Additionally, in its efforts to condemn Israel for its false and misleading accusations, the Decolonization Committee failed to condemn the Palestinian Authority (PA) for the persecution of Christians and the occupation of Christian holy sites that have been overrun by their oppressive leadership as the world sits by and does nothing!  As Christians make their pilgrimage to Bethlehem this year for the Christmas holidays, they should be warned that they may not receive the warm welcome as in previous years," stated Cardoza-Moore.

“For Christians and Jews alike, in this traditional holy season of voices raised in celebration, the silence in the UN in defense of religious freedom is deafening.”
