The Saturday And Sunday People Must Stand Together!
At a time when Christians and Jews have been focused on a period of the joyous celebration of their faith, the world has once again been struck with news of the dangerous, tragic times, in which we live.
The horrific bombing that took place in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday, taking the lives of more than 300 people and injuring another 500, is now being attributed by national sources within Sri Lanka to the Islamist militant group, Thowfeek Jamaath. They are suspected of having ties to international assistance from other radical Muslim sources in carrying out this massacre. The vast majority of those lost were Christian worshippers gathered in three churches for Easter worship when the bombs were detonated. As churches were imploding in flames, three more suicide bombers ignited blasts in three major hotels filled with tourists, locals and a heartbreaking number of children. Four Americans were among those whose lives were lost. This unthinkable act was attributed as “religious hatred” by the organization whose name, Thowfeek Jamaath, is literally translated “National Monotheism Organization”.
As alarming facts on the global rise of anti-Semitism daily cross my desk at PJTN, my thoughts turn today to to the rising number of Christians around the world who, like their Jewish brethren are under dangerous attack in the Middle East and around the globe. Grown from the same roots in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we as Christians and Jews, find ourselves subject to violence and genocidal campaigns by jihadist groups dedicated to exterminating all traces of Christianity and Judaism on the same soil where it first blossomed.
As Jews have found attacks against them growing dramatically last year in the U.S. and around the world, the Open Doors organization released their 2018 “Watch List" report for the 50 top countries in which it is now most dangerous to be a Christian. Approximately 215 million Christians are now living in the shadow of “extreme persecution” in many of the countries you would expect—North Korea, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan —the list goes on— and it's one we as PJTN Watchmen must commit to pray for!
But as CBN News reports – countries like Germany and France are also among the growing hotbeds of violence and unrest for both Judaism and Christianity—a reality attributed to a flood of Muslim immigration in both countries. Open Doors’ analysis brings this violent campaign down to three points of attack: The first, is the Islamic jihad to bring nations under Muslim domination and Sharia Law by violence. The second, is subversive, non-violent rejection of systems not based in Islamic Law. And the third—are you listening America? A planned agenda to inter-act with society by voting and campaigning for Islamic Law and acceptance within the framework of a nation. A subversion based take-over of culture and values.
We must not be “lulled” by compliance to a political party, or the fear of speaking out in what we see happening in America!
Christians and Jews are seeing history repeat itself. We must recall the wisdom: “They come…first for the Saturday people (the Jews), then the Sunday people (the Christians)”.
We must stand together.
In light of world headlines, if you are a believing Christian or Jew, don’t lose heart! Psalm 37:12-15 says:
"The wicked plot against the righteous and gnash their teeth at them.
But the Lord laughs at the wicked, for He knows their day is coming.
The wicked draw their sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy
To slay those whose ways are upright.
But their swords will pierce their own hearts
And their bows will be broken."
Shalom and Blessings,
