TAKING BACK AMERICA’S CHILDREN” ADVOCATE SAYS “NO!” TO CA. ETHNIC STUDIES MODEL CURRICULUM

PARENTS INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL BOARDS IS THE ANSWER TO THE NATION’S HORRORS ON SCHOOL RE-OPENINGS AND BEYOND

(Los Angeles, CA) –Laurie Cardoza-Moore, in California this week for events and meetings in support of the defeat of the state’s controversial “Ethnic Studies Model Curriculum,”  has a message for parents concerned with the horrors being encountered on the opening of the state’s  schools: “Run for your local school board. If you think school board elections don’t have consequences, look around the California and the nation.”

Cardoza-Moore, Founder and President of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN) last year saw the organizational launch of “Taking Back America’s Children,” a campaign that has gained national traction in the era of Covid-19 educational challenges.

“The pandemic has served to give parents an ‘eyes wide open’ view of the failure of American education from destructive, biased curriculum that is no way representative of the values of most Americans, to the revelation of the tremendous strangle hold of political self-interest teacher’s unions hold in our educational system.  She added: “Change must come from the grassroots, with parents realizing how important their participation in local school boards is—whether thoroughly researching and voting for candidates who represent their values, or opting to run for school board positions themselves. These people hold the power of our children’s future.”

PJTN has aggressively rallied nationally up to the office of Governor Newsom on the call for California to vote down the Ethnics Studies Model Curriculums being considered for adoption this month.

Notes Cardoza-Moore, “Something went terribly wrong here in a course originally proposed to ‘ build bridges of understanding between peoples group.’  Praise for what is described as ‘a positive list of American social movements’ include the roles of the rabidly anti-Semitic Black Lives Matter and the BDS Movement for Palestine described for students as a ‘global social movement that aims to establish freedom for Palestinians living under apartheid conditions.’  Students are not, however, informed that the primary goal of BDS is the elimination of Israel.”

My concern is  not only for the education of the 6 million students in California classrooms but that the state has traditionally served as the petri dish for liberal curriculum that systemically is adopted nationally.  Like the state itself, California study courses are becoming increasingly more radical, to the exclusion of  our children being taught critical thinking, civics ,and  American history in favor of cancelling both knowledge  of and authentic wisdom from the past  as well as the traditional  Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of our Constitutional Republic.  I am calling—we must all be calling—for revisions and transparency in our children’s educational system if America is to survive.”
