TAKING BACK AMERICA’S CHILDREN” ADVOCATE SAYS “NO!” TO APPROVAL THIS WEEK OF CA. ETHNIC STUDIES MODEL CURRICULUM

WE MUST NOT ALLOW CALIFORNIA’S PROPOSED FORCED WORSHIP OF THE AZTEC GODS  SET THE EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS FOR THE FUTURE OF OUR NEXT GENERATION OF AMERICAN LEADERSHIP

(Los Angeles, CA) –Laurie Cardoza-Moore, Founder and President of Christian based advocacy group Proclaiming Justice to the Nations (PJTN) is this week aggressively rallying forces on a media campaign in support of her organization’s  national petition addressing Governor Newsom on the call for California to vote down the Ethnics Studies Model Curriculum being considered for adoption this in March voting.

She is encouraging signatures online at: www.pjtn.org

Cardoza-Moore noted in her personal communication to Newsom: “Compounding my ongoing concerns about this curriculum is the existence in the latest draft of a course study of the Aztec gods in which students are required to take part in a ritual of chanting and clapping  to petition the gods to help them be ‘warriors for social justice’ and for ‘liberation, transformation and decolonization.’ Further I understand that Tolteka Cuauhtin, the original co-chair of the ESMC claims that white Christians committed theocide against indigenous tribes, killing their gods and replacing them with Christianity. His solution of California students being forced into an ‘ethnic studies community chant’ that is in actuality a prayer to the Aztec gods of war who were worshipped through human sacrifice is beyond the pale. This is not acceptable in an educational system in which the Bible and Judeo-Christian values are reviled.”

Further, as a concerned American, advocate for American educational reforms and supporter of Israel, I am deeply troubled by the ESMC and truly alarmed at the possibility of it being approved by the California Board of Education this week.  The ESMC’s shocking omission of information about American Jews and anti-Semitism, its use of classic anti-Semitic stereotypes, and its blatant anti-Israel bias is egregious and PJTN joins forces with California’s Jewish leadership organizations in agreeing that we must not  support a curriculum that erases the American Jewish experience, fails to discuss anti-Semitism, reinforces negative stereotypes about Jews, singles out Israel for criticism and would institutionalize the teaching of anti-Semitic stereotypes in our public schools.”

She added “ I am writing to you because I believe these concerns highlight a much deeper and graver problem, namely, the fact that an educational curriculum can be hijacked by those pushing a political and hateful agenda. If not addressed, this problem threatens to undermine not only the current effort to develop an ethnic studies model curriculum, but all other curricular efforts undertaken by the Department of Education. In order to prevent such abuse and the extremely harmful consequences that will ensue from it, I believe safeguards must be put in place before any state-mandated curriculum is adopted for use in California classrooms. “

She noted in a recent interview: “Something went terribly wrong in California in a course originally proposed to ‘build bridges of understanding between peoples group.’  Bias and blatant antisemitism.  Praise for what is described as ‘a positive list of American social movements’ include the roles of the rabidly anti-Semitic Black Lives Matter and the BDS Movement for Palestine described for students as a ‘global social movement that aims to establish freedom for Palestinians living under apartheid conditions.’  Students are not, however, informed that the primary goal of BDS is the elimination of Israel.”

In closing she added: ”My concern is  not only for the education of the 6 million students in California classrooms but that the state has traditionally served as the petri dish for liberal curriculum that systemically is adopted nationally.  Like the state itself, California study courses are becoming increasingly more radical, to the exclusion of their children being taught critical thinking, civics ,and  American history. Instead the cancelling of both knowledge of and authentic wisdom from the past  as well as the traditional  Judeo-Christian values that are the foundation of our Constitutional Republic are weakening America’s foundation. .  I am calling for revisions and transparency in our children’s educational system if America is to survive. We must wake up or face losing our next generation of our nation’s leadership…our children.”

Cardoza-Moore in 2020 oversaw the launch of her organization’s ongoing national campaign on educational reform, “Taking Back America’s Children,” a state-by-state grassroots agenda that has gained major national traction in the era of Covid-19 educational challenges.
