A National Call For The Resignation Of Congresswoman Omar

As a concerned American woman in Christian leadership, I stand wholeheartedly with President Donald Trump's call for the resignation of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar both from her post on the Foreign Affairs Committee, as well as from her seat in Congress in representing the State of Minnesota.  Does Speaker Pelosi not realize that this woman's ties to Muslim Brotherhood organizations make her a threat to our national security? An FBI investigation should be launched to determine her ties to terrorist groups.

Her anti-Semitic tweet this weekend suggesting that money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) is undergirding America’s support of Israel, is more than offensive.  It is a myth taken directly from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the age-old hatred filled handbook of the Hitler regime.  The Protocols is an infamous early 20th century Russian book that lays out a false plot by rich Jews to subvert and destroy Christian society through their finances.  This in turn draws on the long-standing European anti-Semitic fable that portrayed Jews as greedy and conniving.  The suggestion of this type of myth and conspiracy by a first term U.S. Congresswoman suggests much deeper problems are at hand.  I strongly believe these problems will impair her judgment toward protecting U.S. interests on the Foreign Affairs Committee regarding the welfare of Israel, the Jewish people and terrorism.

As the first Muslim woman elected to Congress and the first Somalian woman elected to the Minnesota State Legislature, her ties to the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) are deeply disturbing.  In 1987, CAIR was listed as an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorist fundraising operation in the history of the U.S.

Omar is due to speak this month at a fundraising event for Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA).  Islamic Relief USA (IRUSA) is an affiliate of Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW), the largest international Islamic charity in the world.  The connections between the IRUSA, the IRW and terrorism should raise a red flag.  In 1999, the IRW accepted a $50,000 check from Osama Bin Laden.  In 2006, Israel arrested its project coordinator, Iyaz Ali, in its Gaza office for funneling money to Hamas.  In June 2014, Israel officially declared the organization to be illegal and banned it from operating in Israel and the Palestinian territories due to its financing of Hamas.  In November 2014, the United Arab Emirates declared the IRW to be a terrorist group.

To add more fuel to the fire of her IRUSA speaking engagement, she will be speaking alongside senior IRUSA official Yousef Abdallah, who was widely criticized in 2017 after the Middle East Forum found he had expressed violently anti-Semitic ideas on his social media accounts.

The indication of her true politics was evident when she lashed out publically against Israel by tweeting in 2012:

“Israel has hypnotized the world.   May Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”

Both Omar and her colleague in the new Congress, Representative Rashida Tlaib, have consistently shown open and vocal support of the anti-Semitic BDS Movement against the State of Israel.  Shortly after her election victory, her campaign office told Muslim Girl publication, “Ilhan believes in and supports the BDS Movement and has fought to make sure people’s rights to support it aren't criminalized.”  She recently compared Israel to Iran and said she “almost chuckles when the Jewish state is described as a democracy.”

Her comments equating support of Israel as being bought by Jewish money are more than anti-Semitic rhetoric, they are a glimpse behind the veil to personal and deeper anti-Semitic beliefs held by an individual in power.

“Anti-Semitism must be called out, confronted and condemned whenever it is encountered, without exception. Congresswoman Omar’s use of anti-Semitic tropes and prejudicial accusations about Israel’s supporters is deeply offensive.  We condemn these remarks and we call upon Congresswoman Omar to immediately apologize for these hurtful comments.”  Not my words, but the words of Democratic Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

For one brief and rare moment, I am in agreement with Mrs. Pelosi, but I go a step further: I agree fully with President Trump's call for the immediate resignation of Congressman Omar.  She is using her platform to spread propaganda, which will ultimately incite violence.  As a woman and an American, I find Omar's statements deeply offensive and un-American. She may be able to incite violence in Somalia, but we are Americans, and we won't tolerate her anti-Semitism here.
