UAE adopts textbooks reflecting the Abraham Accords

Today is a memorable day—made even more memorable by the soon approach of the Jewish High Holy Days.

Today President Trump, Prime Minister Netanyahu, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani have signed a historic peace treaty on the White House Lawn. For millennia we have prayed for the peace of Jerusalem and today those prayers are beginning to become a reality.

In their wisdom, the Trump team looked to the moderate Gulf States that shared the same interests as the Jewish State and began to solidify the bridges that had covertly been built for decades. Countries like the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain share the same fears of Iran, Islamism and the Muslim Brotherhood that Israel does. Some would argue that it is unclear who Iran hates more, Jerusalem or Abu Dhabi.

As a Christian pro-Israel organization dedicated to the interests of Israel and the Jewish people, this is a day of celebration.  As an organization dedicated to the well-being of our children, this is also a wonderful day of remembrance.  A new day is dawning for the children of the Middle East.  A new textbook being implemented by the United Arab Emirates is already in use in the UAE—an Arab textbook that teaches peace with Israel.

The impact organization that analyzes textbooks for the Arab world noted the content of the textbook being presented to their children “is remarkable in that the new treaty is not just presented as a fact, but students are presented with the religious, ethical and national reasons to support peace and employ critical thinking in completing an exercise about the importance of peacemaking.”

He went on to note: “Clearly the citizens of a country that teaches peacemaking, conflict resolution and the acceptance of the ‘other’ within their school courses will be more likely to embrace peace treaties signed by their leaders.” Even before covert peace talks were made public between the countries, the United Arab Emirates had totally overhauled the country’s textbooks to promote peace and understanding between all people. Today they are actively promoting peace with Israel to their schoolchildren.

What a concept, America! A return to critical thinking in the classroom where conflict resolution and acceptance embraces all judgments. At PJTN, we understand the importance of education and textbooks and we appreciate what a massive step towards future world peace is now unfolding in the Middle East.

Clearly, across the shores, God has allowed yet another miracle for Israel and the Jewish people—what a day to rejoice! Their children are one step closer to “the peace” we as Christians, Jews, and all people of good conscience in America continually pray for. May we take the day too to pray for America. We must continue to battle all enemies who would distract, misdirect and misinform our own children. The battle for the hearts, souls and minds of our children is very real in American classrooms.  As we rejoice today for the hope of new bonds of peace of the children of the Middle East, let’s recommit all efforts for the children of America—our next generation of leadership!
